Uplifting Zaya through her Cancer Journey

In July 2024 Zaya was diagnosed with metastatic Ewing Sarcoma.  This is a rare cancer, difficult to treat when it is metastatic at presentation.  Zaya had a complete response to her initial treatment at Children’s Hospital Colorado.  Unfortunately, 8 months after completing treatment her surveillance scans revealed recurrence and further spread of her cancer - a pattern that is consistent with an aggressive Ewing Sarcoma.

Though only 11 years old when diagnosed, Zaya faces cancer with the spirit of a peaceful warrior, determined to live fully and find joy in moments as they unfold with friends, family and her sweet pets.

This site serves to rally the troops to uplift and support the Thompson family and other children suffering from cancer.  We are called on to shower love, radiate healing energy and help however we can.

It is difficult to know how to help in the face of news like this.  Community and presence are more important than ever.

If you feel called to do so, you can make a financial contribution to Children’s Cancer charities and/or make a gift directly to Zaya.  There is also an updated meal train link where you can offer nourishing food.

How Can I Help?

The Thompson family is going to need our support and care for the long-haul in a number of ways. This site will be an evolving resource for everyone involved in this battle, and will be a gathering place for updates on Zaya’s condition and other ways that you can help.

There are no right words to say during a situation like this, and it is important to stay present, grounded, and communicate with care and awareness. Pause before speaking and acting, and consider your intention versus the impact of your words and actions. The following is an excellent resource that provides a helpful framework for what to say and things not to say when someone is diagnosed with cancer.
